Currency Converter — free online tool

Travellers and freelancers convert amounts using live daily mid-market rates (160+ currencies) through our first-party API—ideal for trip budgets and invoice estimates without opening a banking app.

When to use Currency Converter

Travel budgets, freelancing invoices, and expense claims when you need a live mid-market conversion without opening a banking app.

Cross-check anything that affects money or health with a qualified professional or official source.

What Currency Converter does not do

Mid-market rates are not your card’s FX markup. We do not book transfers or guarantee a bank’s sell rate at checkout.

How to use Currency Converter

  1. Choose source and target currencies from the dropdowns (list loads from live rates).
  2. Type the amount you want to convert.
  3. Press Convert to fetch the live rate and see the result with the rate timestamp.
  4. Copy the figure into your expense sheet or trip budget.

Practical tips

  • Rates refresh through our API (cached upstream)—reload if markets moved sharply today.
  • Banks and cards add a margin, so budget 1–3% above the converted figure for real spending.
  • Save a screenshot if you need the rate on a specific date for an expense claim.

Example

100 USD → PKR using today’s mid-market rate for a freelance invoice estimate.

Limitations

Rates refresh through our API cache (typically daily). Offline or failed fetch shows an error instead of a stale silent number.

Frequently asked questions about Currency Converter

Are the exchange rates live?

Yes. Our API fetches daily mid-market rates from an upstream feed and caches them. Exact bank or card rates may still differ by a small margin.

Do I need an API token to use the on-page converter?

No. The website’s same-origin calls work without a Bearer token. External apps calling /api/currency-converter may need a token once auth is enabled on your deployment.

Where does my input go when I use the Currency Converter?
